Half Day

This trip is 5 hours!  A great introductory trip and offers a great opportunity to learn to cast, tie some knots and then have plenty of time to practice your new skills.  Advanced anglers will enjoy a morning or afternoon of great fishing as well!  We will have a short scenic drive to one of our best fishing spots.  The price includes all rods and reels, waders, and transportation.  It does not include fishing licenses, flies, and guide gratuity.

Full Day

This trip is 8-10 hours!  On this trip we will get to some of the premier fishing spots in the area.  The Colorado, S. Platte, Arkansas, Williams Fork, and Blue River are a few of the rivers you may fish.  It is not uncommon to land a fish over 20 inches on this trip.  The drives are as scenic as they get.  If you are a beginner you will learn to cast, tie some knots and much more throughout the day.  With the whole day you will have plenty of time to practice your newfound skills, and the possibilities are endless.  As an experienced angler you will get to fish to your hearts content all day long!  The price for this trip includes all rods and reels, waders, transportation, and a shore lunch.  It does not include fishing licenses, flies, or guide gratuity.

 Full Day Float

This trip is 8-10 hours!  This trip is a one-of-a-kind fly fishing experience on the Colorado river.  Not only is the drive scenic, but the entire float will give you breathtaking views.  You will have trouble trying to decide whether to check out the scenery or concentrate on the fishing.  We fish for wild rainbow and brown trout while running Class I, II, and III rapids in our fishing specific drift boats and rafts.  You will encounter wild trout that may have never seen a fisherman before!  Using “big” attractor dries up top and usually a dropper below makes for an extremely active fishing day.  This is the Colorado wilderness – fishing and scenery at its best.  The price for this trip includes all rods and reels, waders, transportation, and a shore lunch.  It does not include fishing licenses, flies, or guide gratuity.

Lake Float

This trip is 8-10 hours!  The float trip is a great fishing experience on one of the trophy lakes in the area.  Spinney and Antero to name a few!  Fly fish for trophy trout while relaxing in one of our drift boats or rafts.  Sit back and be ready to hang on.  It is not uncommon to have 2 hook ups at the same time on these trips!  This trip includes rods and reels, waders, transportation, and a shore lunch.  It does not include fishing licenses, flies , or guide gratuity.

 Private Water

We have many private water locations available.  These trips offer an opportunity to fish waters that are virtually untouched.  Imagine catching fish after fish and seeing no one all day long.  Pristine creeks, rivers, ponds, and lakes located on some of Colorado’s ranch land give you and opportunity for some breathtaking scenery, unforgettable fishing and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.  We can offer private land on our half day and full day trips.  The cost varies from parcel to parcel.  On average you are looking anywhere from $30 to $100 per person for rod fees and a $10 per person reservation fee in addition to the cost of your half day or full day trip.  Reservations are needed at least two weeks in advance.

Overnight

We offer overnight trips with our full day float trips.  On the overnight trip we will float fish to our campsite, make camp, wade fish for the evening hatch and enjoy a gourmet dinner around the campfire.  The following morning don’t miss the experience of waking up to the crisp Colorado air and fishing right out front of camp for the early morning risers, while coffee is brewing and a gourmet breakfast is being prepared.  The fishing, food, and scenery make this trip an adventure of a lifetime.  This trip includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner and all equipment needed (tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, camp chairs, toilets, kitchen, dry bags, etc.).  The guest only needs to bring their outerwear.

 Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a fishing license cost?  Fishing licenses in the state of Colorado are $9 plus a required $5 ‘Habitat Stamp’.  Just tell the guest they are $14.  The ‘Habitat Stamp’ is new and confusing…we will explain it to them when they get to the shop.  Blue River Anglers only accepts cash for fishing licenses.

How many flies do I need and how much are they?  This is a two part question so I will make it a two part answer.

1)  How many?  Lesson:  4-6 flies per person
Half Day:  6-8 flies per person
Full Day:  10-12 flies per person
Full Day Float:  10-14 flies per person
Overnight:  20-24 flies per person (enough for two full days
Float Fishing and wade fishing at camp)

                               2)      How much?  All flies at our shop are either $1.75 or $2.00 a piece…depending on the pattern.

What do I need to bring?  Guests need to bring a hat, sunglasses (preferably polarized), sunscreen, bug spray (not needed often, but better to have it…), and a rain jacket.  Long sleeve shirts are best to keep out of the sun, but short sleeves are fine.  Pants or shorts are fine, they need only to be wearing a belt or at least belt loops so that we can attach their hip boots to them.

Do we get to keep the fish?  No.  Our Company policy is strict ‘catch and release’ fishing.  Not only does this keep the fish in the rivers and allow others to enjoy them, but it is good for business.

How much should I tip?  Gratuity for a fishing guide is the same as anywhere in the service industry…15 to 20% depending on your experience.
